Changes in our product specifications

March 2013

In our constant being up to date on technical and regulatory matters, we have changed our specifications to adapt them to the latest regulations:

Heavy metal content: we are controlling our raw materials in such a way that we can ensure maximum heavy metals content of 10 ppm. This value reflects that all our raw materials are food-grade and comply with the most demanding specifications.

Allergens information: The old EU Directive 2003/89/EC, which listed the allergenic ingredients which had to be labeled in a food containing them, has been replaced by Regulation 1169/2011. The allergenic list is now in the Annex II of this Regulation. This regulatory change has been updated in our specifications sheet.

To keep customers informed, we state if a Gum Base contains soy lecithin, the only allergenic material from those listed used in Cafosa. Not all of our Gum Bases contain such ingredient but although we overdo our controls to minimize cross contamination, this cannot be totally excluded and that’s why we also inform if a given Gum Base may contain traces of soy lecithin.

GMO statement: our Santiga factory is a Non GMO factory; therefore all our Gum Bases are non-GMO to all intents and purposes. They comply with Regulation 1829/2003 and Regulation 1830/2003.

These changes in our specifications show our commitment that our Gum Bases and the raw materials we use to produce them comply with the most demanding regulations; it’s our responsibility to our customers.
